Since its foundation in 2008, Baltan Laboratories (Eindhoven, the Netherlands) initiates experimentation on the crossroads of art, design, science and technology, evoking inquisitive ideas and insights by bridging the gaps between disciplines.

The lab functions as a collaborative mindset and network, connecting curious individuals and organisations. By placing art and design research at the core of its activities, Baltan explores the implications, promises and pitfalls of our technological society. Baltan translates these ideas into different outputs, including collaborations, events, workshops, storytelling, publications and expos, creating a space for reflection, research and experimentation.

From 2017 onwards, Baltan relies on Luscinus for services and advice on strategic and organizational matters such as: long-term strategy building, funding applications, financial management, business development, human-resource policy… Between 2010 and 2013, Koen was also an active Board Member at Baltan, acting as Chairman from 2011 onwards. From 2014 to 2016, Koen was Director of Baltan. Under his leadership, the organizations reputation grew and its size doubled, while in parallel reducing its dependency of public funding with up to 40%.
